Spiced Oatmeal
Spiced oatmeal is warm oats cooked soft with cinnamon and cardamom, a grounding, easy-to-digest Ayurvedic breakfast for a steady start to the day.

Ingredients
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup milk (dairy or plant)
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 small pinch ground cardamom
- 1 small pinch ground ginger
- 1 tsp ghee
- 5 raisins
- 1 tsp jaggery or maple syrup, to taste
Method
- Bring the water to a boil in a small pot and stir in the oats.
- Lower the heat and add the cinnamon, cardamom and ginger.
- Pour in the milk and add the raisins, then simmer gently, stirring, until the oats are soft and creamy.
- Cook for a few minutes more if you like them very soft and easy to digest.
- Stir in the ghee at the end.
- Sweeten with a little jaggery or maple syrup and serve warm in a bowl.
Cooked soft and warm so it sits gently. Best eaten freshly made rather than reheated.
