About
About Ayurvedapedia
A clear, sourced reference to the knowledge of Ayurveda.
Ayurvedapedia is an encyclopaedia of Ayurveda, written in plain and accurate English. It brings together the herbs, formulations, therapies and theory of the classical tradition, each entry grounded in the texts from which it comes.
It is published by the team behind Art of Vedas, who work with classical Ayurvedic manufacturing in India. The encyclopaedia is a reference resource and is kept separate from the shop: its purpose is to explain, not to sell.
Every article is compiled from the classical texts, names the sources it draws on, and is checked against them before publication. See our editorial standards for how entries are researched and sourced, and our disclaimer on the educational nature of this reference.
What you will find
Single-herb monographs with their botanical identity and classical properties; entries on the named formulations of the pharmacopoeia; descriptions of the classical therapies and daily practices; and the foundational theory of the doshas, agni and the dhatus.
