Rasayana Stewed Fruit
Rasayana stewed fruit is a warm, gently spiced compote of dried and fresh fruits, a naturally sweet and nourishing Ayurvedic rasayana treat.

Ingredients
- 5 dried figs, chopped
- 5 dates, pitted and chopped
- 5 dried apricots, chopped
- 1 apple, peeled and chopped
- 1.5 cups water
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 small pinch ground cardamom
- 3 cloves
- 1 tsp ghee
- 8 almonds, soaked, peeled and slivered
Method
- Chop the dried figs, dates and apricots, and peel and chop the apple.
- Put all the fruit in a pot with the water, cinnamon, cardamom and cloves.
- Bring to a gentle simmer over low heat.
- Cover and cook for about fifteen minutes until the fruit is very soft and the liquid is syrupy.
- Remove the whole cloves and stir in the ghee.
- Scatter the slivered soaked almonds over the top.
- Serve warm in small bowls as a nourishing treat.
