How to practise

  1. Sit comfortably with a tall, relaxed spine.
  2. Breathe in and out through the nose, keeping the mouth closed.
  3. Gently narrow the back of the throat so the breath makes a soft ocean-like sound.
  4. Let the in-breath and out-breath be slow, smooth, and equal in length.
  5. Keep the sound quiet and steady, never strained.
  6. Rest your attention on the gentle whisper of the breath.
  7. Continue for the chosen time, then let the breath return to normal.
